The German company AVM (Audio Video Messtechnik - measurement technology for audio and video) was founded in 1986 by two engineers - Günter Mania and Robert Wieniarski.
At that time, the founders of the company were working together in the laboratory of the German publication Hi-Fi-Stereophonie - testing audio-video components. Initially, AVM specialized in the development and manufacture of amplifiers for larger companies, but later began to implement its own ideas.
The company first gained credibility in its homeland, then in Austria and Switzerland, producing amplifiers and CD players.
In 2010, its development was taken up by the new owner and general director Udo Besser, who came from the world famous German Burmester. He brought the company to the global market and provided a wide range of products. The name changed to Audio Video Manufaktur.
Based on advanced German technology, AVM uses highly reliable and stable surface mounted device (SMD) components. When designing, the company's specialists adhere to the principle of short signal routes with no obstacles in their path (for example, relays). Structural elements include printed circuit boards with gold-plated connections that are resistant to environmental influences, as well as massive housings made of aluminum, a non-magnetic material that prevents the appearance of eddy currents.
Stabilized power supply of AVM devices from separate sources for driver and input stages, for output transistors and control circuits prevents mutual interference and ensures stability under any load. Rectification with fast diodes and large capacitors in the filters ensures excellent response and stability of power supplies with significant power reserves. AVM amplifiers are necessarily equipped with overheating and short circuit protection circuits.
AVM today
Today, this small but legendary company bears a more modern name - AVM Next Generation Audio Technologies (next generation audio technologies) and its devices can easily be classified as High End products.
It currently produces four main lines of equipment: Audition, Evolution, Inspiration and Ovation, which include preamplifiers, mono power amplifiers (up to 1250 W), integrated amplifiers, media/CD players, CD receivers, and vinyl record players and phono stages, acoustic speakers.
Additionally, the company produces accessories and optional built-in boards that expand the capabilities of its equipment, including USB DAC modules, phono stage boards (MC/MM) for 3-series preamplifiers, FM tuner boards for the Evolution line, as well as remote controls in a massive aluminum housing.
Many devices are equipped with an RS-232 interface and trigger ports, which allows them to be integrated into multiroom systems and smart home automatic control systems.
